Rocky River Community Church Marriage Retreat

DSCF2792.JPG

Lisa and I had a great time in Charleston this past weekend. We really missed Emily Grace though. Rocky River Community Church hosted a marriage retreat. Twenty-Seven couples learned about God's will for marriages and exchanged some ideas on marriage, raising children and family in general. The church staff all did an awesome job of making this happen.

Anyway, check out some pics that we took while walking around historic Charleston.

Snow Day 2009

Snow off the Tree Emily Grace and I had a great time in the snow Monday (03-02-2008). Well, honestly, I just took photos and dodged snowballs. It was great to have that much snow - yes 4-5" is a lot for us in Concord, NC.

Past, Gift and Future

Today I took Emily Grace to school so Lisa could attend her first Spanish class at work. We are both "talkers" and as a result talk a lot while driving/riding together. She told me that she really likes "the gift" because of all the cool stuff we have like gadgets, computers, etc. She said that they didn't have all of that in the past and it wasn't as good as we have it now in "the gift."

Yes, I finally realized she was talking about "the present." I was reminded that Emily Grace is my "gift" from God.

Update on Emily Grace

Update 01-02-2009 6:37PM EST

  • This will be our last update on this blog post since we are now at home.
  • Emily Grace slept really well last night.
  • We slept as well as we could in the hospital.
  • She ate good and was able to poopy to satisfy the doctors.
  • She has only had to take motrin for pain for the past 24 hours or so.
  • She has a good sized incision. It is scary to look at for Mommy and Daddy on their little girl. The surgeons are happy with the way it looks though.

Murphy the Cat

Well we have a new pet. An inside cat at that (sounds like Dr. Seuss). We named him Murphy. Anyway, I love this cat already. He is really friendly (for a cat) and is easy going. Doesn't run and hide either. He fits our family's personality quite well. Murphy even puts up with our daughter who probably annoys him much of the time. She just gets all over him and cats don't usually dig that.

Oh well, hope everyone out there has a great week. See ya!

Jacob's 1st Birthday Party

We rolled up to Mooresville Saturday to attend my newphew's first birthday party. It was pretty cool. My brother, Jason, and his wife, Christina, did it up right with a cookout, cake and the who works at their house. Anyway, below are some photos and videos from the event.

Lisa wasn't able to make it to the party because she needed to attend a funeral for some co-workers/friends. It wasn't the same without her for sure, but she had to go to support her friends. That is important.
