I was a bit skeptical when Lisa wanted to start a new small group. It is a major time commitment, but very rewarding. We have both felt a strong need to connect and Bible study with others who share our interest to learn.

In the short video below, Steve Jobs talks about marketing a company's core values so that the company is meaningful. Keep the message simple and don't let mixed messages confuse customers about what your company is really about.

Does your church market its core values well? Do web site visitors, fist time attenders and even members/regular attenders get what your church is about? If not, you may want to rethink how you market your church's core values.

Church Relevance has release its picks for the 90 top church web sites. The blog post below explains that they are based on design, usability and innovative ideas. That still sounds very subjective to me, but once you look at some of the sites in the list, there is no denying that we can all learn a good deal from these web site designs.

Thirst Camp/Beach Trip

We are heading off to the beach (Myrtle Beach) after church today. Rocky River is sponsoring Thirst Camp 2008 for middle school and high school students. You can read more about it here. My wife, Lisa, will be the camp nurse. Me and Emily Grace do not have any specific duties, but will help out as needed. We also plan on spending a lot of time in the pool.

Is the Bible we have today the same Bible from 1900 years ago?

The accuracy (or alleged inaccuracy) of the Bible is often a topic brought up by non-believers. Let's face it, if the Bible isn't accurate, how can one believe. I found this comparison between ancient texts to be very interesting. Thanks to http://twitter.com/mxbx for publishing on his blog.

Rocky River Band Plays at UNC Charlotte

I had a great time yesterday playing drums with the Rocky River Community Church Band at UNC Charlotte. We played the Staff Picnic for the second year in a row. We were not rained out this year, but the 97 degree heat beat us down pretty bad. We still had a great time and received a warm response from many of the picnic goers. Thanks to my band mates for volunteering to help out by playing at the event.
