Reading through my RSS feed in Reeder app this morning, I read this post at Dave Caolo's 52tiger.net. I have to say that I totally agree that RSS is dying a slow death. RSS was never really accepted beyond techies. I still love RSS, but that doesn't change reality.
The part I don't agree with is that Twitter is a good replacement for RSS. Twitter is better at disseminating news. If enough breaking news is Tweeted, I will probably catch it in my stream. The problem is that for smaller stories and posts that aren't big news, a Tweet is posted and forgotten in my Twitter stream within a few minutes. Part of this is my fault. I follow too many people, but that is the way I have decided to use Twitter.
RSS still has its place. My question is when it finally dies, what will be there to replace it?
